  • Garwnant Visitor Centre Cwmtaf, Merthyr Tydfil CF48 2HU (map)

We are excited to announce, this February we have teamed up with FISA, Pontrilas Harvesting & mwmac ltd to deliver this half day workshop to introduce the new FISA GMHSF.

Brief Overview

FISA have released the newly revised ‘Guidance on Managing Health & Safety in Forestry’ in December 2019. The new documents set out the legal duties, responsibilities and nature of each of the roles with the aim of making those duties and responsibilities more straightforward and understandable. In support of the document release FISA, with industry representatives, will host two events in Wales (North & South). The expectation of these events is to brief the key parties in the new guidance and provide working examples of delivery within our day to day tasks. The Event will be hosted in two sessions (morning session for Landowner & Forest Works Manager & afternoon session for Contractors).

We would like to invite you before this session starts to enjoy a networking lunch between 12 & 2pm.

Contractors - 2pm to 4pm

The final session of the event will be open to the forestry contractors (Harvesting/Restock/Ground Prep) to attend. The session will look to discuss the responsibilities of the Contractor and implementation within the working environment. Providing examples and templates of methods to allow a contractor to comply with current industry standards, with minimal cost. The Session will be lead by Matthew Whitehead (Pontrilas Harvesting Ltd) who has been developing and supporting contractors in Wales to achieve industry standards for the past 2 years and has examples of implementation.
