We are excited to announce this one-day workshop run jointly between The Arboricultural Association and Focus on Forestry First.

A one-day 'signposting' course to help arborists improve their understanding of arboriculture's wide range of knowledge topics: tree id, physiology, pruning, decay, biomechanics and much more.

Objectives

When you have completed this course you should be able to do the following:

  • Describe the range of subject areas in modern arboriculture

  • Recognise the level of knowledge necessary to work at a professional standard

  • Explain the principles of tree identification, physiology and biomechanics

  • Identify requirements for correct pruning practices

  • Describe the range of tree decay fungi, pests and diseases

  • List legal requirements, including tree protection legislation

  • Explain the environmental topics affecting arboriculture

  • Follow up relevant topics through further training and other sources of information and advice
