Forestry Works Manager
This one day course is designed for Forestry Works Managers, Site Supervisors, Team Leaders and those managing forestry operations. This course will provide a general oversight and awareness of the responsibilities of a Forestry Works Manager.
Chainsaw Operations for Supervisors and Managers
This course is for Forestry Works Managers, Site Supervisors, Team Leaders, and those overseeing chainsaw operations. It equips participants with essential knowledge and skills to ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and high operational and environmental standards. Additionally, it promotes awareness of safe and unsafe chainsaw practices and good and bad environmental practices, helping participants identify and mitigate hazardous situations.
Mechanised Harvesting for Supervisors and Managers (Harvester Forwarder)
This course is for Forestry Works Managers, Site Supervisors, Team Leaders, and Managers involved in mechanised harvesting operations. It aims to equip participants with knowledge to oversee these operations safely, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain high operational and environmental standards. Additionally, the course promotes understanding of safe versus unsafe practices and helps participants identify and mitigate hazardous situations.
Steep Ground Work for Supervisors and Managers (Cable crane & Traction Assist Winch)
This course is for Forestry Works Managers, Site Supervisors, Team Leaders, and Managers involved in steep ground harvesting operations. It aims to equip participants with knowledge to oversee these operations safely, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain high operational and environmental standards. Additionally, the course promotes understanding of safe versus unsafe practices and helps participants identify and mitigate hazardous situations.
Debogging and Recovery of Forestry Machines for Supervisors and Managers
This course is designed for participants responsible for supervising and/or managing sites where debogging or recovery of forest machinery may occur. The aim is to equip participants with the knowledge necessary to oversee the recovery of machines that have become bogged down (‘debogging’), immobile or have tipped over (‘recovery’) during forestry, tree work and other land-based occupations, pulling with a winch or another machine.
Species Diversity for Managers and Supervisors
The aim of the event is to provide participants with the fundamental knowledge required to achieve objectives of increasing the diversity of tree species in managed woodlands, in accordance with UK best practise. Using site-based examples.
Planting and Establishment for Managers and Supervisors
The aim of the event is to provide participants with the fundamental knowledge required to carry out restocking operations from site planning, through ground preparation to successful establishment, in accordance with UK best practise. Using site-based examples.
Thinning for Managers and Supervisors
The aim of the event is to provide participants with the fundamental knowledge required to understand why thinning of woodlands is good practise and how to thin, in accordance with UK best practise. Using site-based examples.
Ground Preparation for Managers and Supervisors
The aim of the event is to provide participants with the fundamental knowledge required to plan and manage ground preparation and carry out planting operations in accordance to UK best practise.
Conservation and Silviculture for Managers and Supervisors
The aim of the event is to provide participants with the fundamental knowledge required to understand the ecological quality of Ancient Woodland Sites, (including Plantations on Ancient Woodland sites). Plan the interventions and manage subsequent forest operations, in accordance with UK best practise. Understand how silviculture can deliver long term conservation outcomes. Using site-based examples.
Boundary Stock Fencing for Supervisors and Managers

It aims to equip participants with the knowledge to plan and oversee fencing while ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and high operational and environmental standards. The course also emphasizes safe and unsafe fencing practices, helping participants identify and mitigate hazardous situations.
Soils Basics for Foresters
This one-day workshop is designed to deepen your understanding of soil management in forestry. Through a combination of classroom learning and practical fieldwork, you'll explore the critical role of soil in forest management and gain the skills needed to effectively identify and manage different soil types in the field.
Introduction to Priority Habitat Identification in relation to Tree Planting
This course is designed to raise awareness of identifying Priority Habitat when looking at sites in relation to Tree Planting. There will be a Welcome & Introduction before you are taken on a field walk to further raise awareness of habitat indicators, field signs and management challenges/suitability.
Amphibians and Woodlands (with special reference to Great Crested Newts)
This course is designed to raise awareness of amphibians in woodland ponds, with special reference to Great Crested Newts. Delegates should come away with a better understanding of species ecology; understand how they may potentially be using woodland and be able to identify basic field signs and habitats that indicate their doing so.
Adder Habitat Awareness
As adder populations continue to decline across various regions of the UK, this comprehensive course aims to address the pressing need for species awareness and habitat preservation. With a focus on raising sector awareness, attendees will learn essential techniques in habitat recognition and identifying field signs that indicate the possible presence of adders within woodlands.
European Protected Species and Bats for Foresters
This course is designed to raise awareness of European Protected Species and Bats when undertaking forestry operations. There will be a class5room-based presentation led by industry experts & then you will be taken on a field walk to further raise awareness of species habitat indicators, field signs and management challenges.
