Introduction to Drones (14N-ID)

This November, expand your knowledge of the use of drones & legislation at this one-day workshop run jointly between the Tremio and Focus on Forestry First.

This Knowledge Transfer Event will explore:

AM Workshop

  • Introduction to various drones, the difference between prosumer and consumer drones

  • Basic technology and workings of the drone and how they work

  • Different payloads of drones and different types of imagery

  • The Drone Code’ breakdown of the rules implemented by the Civil Aviation Authority that all drone users must adhere to for legal requirements

  • A brief introduction to NATS and ‘No Fly Zones’

  • Problems likely to face when operating in the forestry sector

PM Onsite

  • Introduction to safety checks of the drone and risk assessment whilst on site pre flight

  • Basic health and safety of drone operator

  • Flying of the drone and keeping VLOS (visual line of sight)

  • How to use controller and application

  • if possible) get learners to take control of drone and perform designated manoeuvres
