Aim:
To develop tree identification skills for a range of broadleaf and coniferous trees.
Objectives:
At the end of this course, each trainee should be able to
Comment on identifying features of trees.
Identify trees using a key and an identification book
Recognise similarities in trees of the same genus.
Recognise a range of tree species from leaf and twig samples
Recognise a range of tree species in the field.
Understand some of the habitats that different species occupy
Understand some of the uses of different tree species as timber, landscape, wildlife habitat or amenity
